New page

__NOTOC__

Scrabble3D aims to be as flexible as possible and to support most regional specifics and variants. That includes not only the board but as well the letter set and newly introduced rules. However, some basic rules are always kept:
* the first word has to include the (gray) start square
* tiles can be placed in one dimension only (vertical or horizontal as well as into the depth in 3D-mode)
* a connection to previously placed words is required

But yet the validity of words can be controlled by the user with an own dictionary.

== Superscrabble ==
A well known enhancement of the classical game is Superscrabble. It is played on boards with 21x21 fields, quadruple premium squares, and the twice of the original letter set.

== Scrabble3D ==
The 3D mode is unique and not available in any other program (a real game is hardly to imagine). Additionally to the two dimensions a further one is added. Game play follows the usual conventions, that means a word can be placed vertically or horizontally but as well into the depth. To make this possible at all an 'active plane' is used. This plane can be moved through the cube and adjusted in the orientation. The thrill of the 3D game is to create valid words not only at the active plane but with all neighboring tiles too - which can be challenging for well filled cubes.

== Malus fields ==
Amongst the usual premium squares you may define your own board that may consists of malus fields. Tiles placed on those squares are deducted from the total result.

== Cambio Secco ==
This variant is known in Italy and regularly applied in tournaments. The Cambio Secco can be used once the game to exchange all tiles on the rack without loss of the move. In case of notably awkward racks the Cambio Secco provides an opportunity to gain a good score however. But apply the Cambio Secco with caution, it can be used only once.

== CLABBERS ==
CLABBERS, an anagram to Scrabble, allows to play words with scrambled letters. The validity check tests not only the word itself but as well if any permutation of letters is known. In real games the player has to specify which word is constituted by the anagram - this does not apply here.

== What-If-Only variant ==
Frequently, you get an almost perfect rack with only one inapplicable tile: "What if only this tile was an E?" This subjunctive can be solved with Scrabble3D. You can 'jokerize' one tile (i.e. turn one letter into a blank) every move. Just press ctrl and right click one tile on the rack when the option is active. But in return you have to score with at least as much points as the bingo yields (usually 50 points, but adjustable too). Otherwise the move is treated as invalid.

== Speed Scrabble ==
Thanks to the variable time limitation, in particular the restriction per move, it is possible to play fast games. For example, if a move has to be done within two minutes the game becomes much more dynamical.

== Math Scrabble ==
Since dictionaries are simple word lists and letters can be defined freely, it is possible to configure strange variants. The freely available dictionary 'Math' contains mathematical formulas like '1+1=2' and a letter set with 1,2...,+,= (the letter set is offered for automatically configuration after the dictionary has been loaded successfully). Words are equations with numbers and operators as tiles in this kind of game.

== Simultan/Duplicate ==
This feature is not implemented yet.
